2003 Toyota Yaris 1.3 VVT i T3 5dr 5 door Hatchback whats it worth ?

Looks like it's worth £2795 to the dealer. What it's worth to you is entirely different though.

Not quite sure anyone can accurately advise you without seeing the condition, service history, how it drives etc. For a generic valuation you would probably be best to take a look at parkers.

Why a 2003 Yaris?

Have you driven one? They are horrible.

Urm.. they are very good to drive for their class of car? I found them to handle as well if not better than its contemporary fiesta for example. Tones of grip and quite zingy engines especially given then genuinely low kerb weight.

I'd have thought that £2000 would be closer to the mark as that does seem expensive to me but i'm no expert, £3000 seems to get you a 2005 car with 40k ish on the clock and Not much more than £3k see's you into the 2nd generation which feels far newer.

You can they are ridiculously cheap to run, parts are cheap, easy to work on and nothing really goes wrong with them in the first place so it'll just be the usual consumable's that you need to worry about. for example I just changed the front brake discs & pads on mine for a grand total of £36..

We've got a 1L Yaris, does the job as the wifes car and a cheap run around.

It was super cheap when we bought it, ~4 years ago, 19,000 miles £2000. As a cheap run around, it's fantastic. Cheap to maintain and cheap to run.

The only 'bad' thing with them is the front droplinks, the OEM ones are made of cheese and would need replacing every year. Well worth replacing them with polybushes

They are fantastic little cars the Yaris, 10x better than anything else of that era, a hoot to drive great fun with go kart like handling, solid build and reliability and cheap as chips to run, I wouldn't mind one myself as a city run around at some point.

The one in the link looks like a good example, although I wouldn't pay 2.8k, i would look to get it down to 2.4/5k, but its a dealer so expect to pay more.

They really aren't. Used to have a 1.4 D4d myself and it was a great little car to drive. Did have the TRD lowering springs fitted to it though so it handled much better, but it dealt with commuting 70 miles a day really well and was surprisingly comfortable. It also never went wrong in the 3 years I had it.

My sister had a 1ltr one as well and that was great, also never went wrong.

No mate they are ****. I'd rather drive a fiesta or something.

I'd say neither are amazing. My OH's parents have a Yaris ('52 or '53 plate) and the interior is shocking, but it is practical, reliable and pretty nippy. I can't see the equivalent 1.2 or whatever Fiesta being any different.

As above - we got £2k for our 2001 1.3 GLS with 60k on the clock a few years ago. I would say that is probably worth nearer to the £2k mark.

Really great cars as to fit the 'cheap runner' category. They seat 4 surprisingly well, the 1.3 is definitely the choice engine as it has plenty of poke for day to day use but I managed around 38-40mpg during an inner city commute, you could do far better on a run, visibility is great and very easy to drive - my only criticism is front end grip can be lacking occasionally in the wet if you are a little heavy footed. Would have another one in a heartbeat - literally nothing went wrong apart from the front droplinks.

Where the car was manufactured had a bearing on the quality of the interior on these. Anything that came out of France was noticeably poorer quality compared to the Japanese-built cars.

There should be a sticker on the front windscreen showing which country the car was manufactured in.

If I was going to spend 3 grand on a 11 year old Yaris I would be looking for a T-Sport at least. I was in a similar position myself. Was looking for a run around for the missus and the Yaris was one but in the end we got a Suzuki Ignis sport for 1900 with 41000 on the clock. Fantastic little car with a great engine.

Ive got a mk1 and mk2 in the family and its certainly not a great car to drive. But toyotas never really have been. A fiesta is by far a better handling car.

That said as a old people chariot they are great. Well put together and will never ever breakdown. The Mk2 is a big car for a small car and they can be had for 3.5k if you look around. I wouldnt spend 3k on a mk2 at all, 2k tops and for that it would have to be a facelift and under no circumstance get a mmt auto they are god aweful.

Fwiw i sold a 53 reg 3 door in black for 1395 with 86k miles. It was the 1.0. Seriously if you have any intereest in driving dont get one they are dull dull dull.

Thanks guys i might email him an offer of 2k or look for a private sale. Does no one like the panda ?

The Panda's are another one that are quite fun to drive and practical, but reliability and build quality will be an issue, and the smaller engines are dire in the car, they were great with the old Cinquecento but not on these bigger and heavier Panda's, the Yaris is far superior.
