Can someone explain to me why a gollywog is racist?

Its just astonishing how far over the top political correctness has gone, it is absolutely ridiculous.

Honestly it's to such a point that I feel I cant describe someones ethnicity to someone else without being looked upon as some foaming at the mouth, pointy white-hat wearing racist. I just avoid all talk of race and other "sensitive matters" with anyone outside of close friends.

If a single sentence is going over your head and you feel the need to suggest that I am racist then here I'll break it down what I meant;

I feel that I am not *allowed* to refer to anyone's ethnicity without the fear of being called a racist. Much as you have just proved with your idiotic reply. Hell I don't even know the "correct" way to describe any other skin color than "white".

This is exactly what I mean, everyone gets there knickers in a twist over ANYTHING concerning race.

You were criticizing a perceived lack of morals by suggesting that I thought describing someone as a "golliwog" would be akin to describing the ethnicity of someone. If that's not suggesting I'm a racist, what is it?

***, was a derogatory term used to describe blacks. Hence a Gollywog, was akin to a Gollynigger today.

You're putting the cart before the horse there. Golliwogs were invented in the late 1800s whereas the word "***" didn't come about until the 1920s and it is thought to have come from golliwog, not the other way around.
