9370 Black Edition 4.40GHz is only running at 3.8ghz?

Bought the 990FXA-UD3 today from overclockers. Under further research it seems it needs to be a rev 4. Does say anything on the website but presumes its the latest.

Can anyone confirm?

Are you asking what Rev your board you just bought is? if so its on the PCB somewhere near the bottom left corner.

No mate, ordered it today and assumed its 4.0 but now looking at the listing its doesnt say?

The only people who can tell you what it is is shop staff, ask in the CS section, but by the time you get a reply (tomorrow now) the board will turn up?

You can change your mind upto 14days as that is what the DSR is here at OcUK if you are not happy.

You really want an Asus board for the 9370 - they're the only ones that reliably do over 4GHz without issues (unless you're spending £150+). If you get a rev 3 you'll need to RMA it.

The revision 4 looks different to the earlier ones, so either it isn't a revision 4, or the image on the OcUK product page is wrong.

If he gets a rev 3 he can just send it back under OcUK's 14 day return policy.

Apologies if I didn't make it clear earlier that it is only the revision 4 which has native support. I did mention that the revision 4 has native support but not that its the only revision. :(

As for whether Asus boards are better for the FX9370 or not, I can't really comment on that having never owned an FX-8 chip. I have owned several AM3 & AM3+ boards and CPU's in the past though.

Piledriver 8 core CPUs put a fair bit of strain on the phases/VRMs at higher clocks (over 4.2GHz or so) - the cheaper ones weren't designed for them and just don't cope, they were really designed for Phenoms and the like. Asus VRMs are very high quality though and all work without any problems.

The UD3 has had loads of issues, rev 4 *should* work ok with the 9370. I'd personally get a Sabertooth as it's very reliable if a bit more expensive:
