Battlefield 4 Video Card Performance - AMD Vs Nvidia

I wonder what the nvidia fanboys are going to have to snigger about once the non refs land mid Dec and are quieter, cooler and faster than the current batch of 290 pros :) and they will still be cheaper than the 780 haha

But when you're so quick to say BUT HOWEVER it's hardly noticeable directly after saying it's quicker. That's some mighty fishy pie brewing in my books. Put it as the final words and let the readers decide. Stop trying to buy them over at every turn by counter arguing your own findings.

Maybe you should go back and read some older reviews. The ones where Nvidia are butter smooth  I hope you realize quicker could mean 4fps for 780ti, which is "Hardly Noticeable" btw.

This. They are probably my least favourite review site.

What's your favourite? AlienBabelTech!

Edit: If Hardocp is being called biased (from both sides), then they must be doing it (Reviews) right, which I cant say same for most others.

A dedicated benching thread would be nice, and yes I know the mods merged it I think I read that in about ten different threads now Greg! :p

Yer fair :D

It is great for everyone to get involved and you end up with so many results, you can grab the averages and be pretty much spot on.

No more mentions from me :p

The way it generally goes for those who are ardent brand defenders is that if a site shows their brand to be slower they're paid off whereas if it shows their favourite brand is faster they're just showing how it really is :D.

Something definitely not right with that first chart, the minimums the 290x 50% faster than the non X and the 780 20% faster than the Titan.

Yep, they change the settings for each card they bench...Why I have no idea and it just skews the results and confuses everyone.

not for their apples to apples comparisons they don't supposedly

Battlefield 4

In our apples-to-apples testing, we will run our high end cards at 2560x1600 with 4X MSAA and all in game options set to maximum values.

There is just something very very wrong with that chart/review.

Can't see why the thread Greg made got merged,

think it would have been beneficial to everyone to have a dedicated thread with a set play through sequence on probably SP, or perhaps the Firing range maybe?

To minimize the variation seen when playing Multiplayer etc and give a better representation of different setup's and their performance.

That will be an amazing moment. In the meanwhile though:

*Insert skeleton meme here*

For both mantle and non-ref 290's.

Until they come, the stock cooler deserves all the mocking it can get :)

By the way, I hope those non-ref 290x's might drop the price for the 780ti as well. Though I assume custom-PCB 780ti's will be launching at around the same time.. or is that even allowed for board partners for things like lightning? Who knows.

GTX770 returning lower results than a GTX760 at the same settings.....

Inconsistancies like this makes the whole performance review a little pointless.

Perhaps they should have reviewed single player performance to get a base line, and then had an additional page which looked at likely multiplayer performance with a lot of caveats?

The problems with multiplayer benchmarking, consistency. You can't have it both ways. A very recent review here, Guru3d's take on BF4. Single player this time. Pulls up similiar results differences on Titan vs 290X. 290X 10 fps faster at 1440p at 2xMSAA at HardOCP and at Guru3d.
