Though a car of that size it will probably be only a little inline 4 - and thrashing the hell out of an engine is not my idea of fun.

I presume you mean the Datsun 240Z (ie S30) rather than the Nissan 240SX tbh I forgot the datsun had an I6

I want to like it, however it looks too much like an Austin Allegro .

The front end is really nice, however past there it just looks wrong and a bit like a 1960's idea of a 21st century car.
