Lift or stairs?

It's too variable and I make my decision based on:

- how busy the elevators are
- how many flights of stairs I need to ascend
- how many stairs I need to descend
- what I'm carrying

Stairs.

It's getting rather old when people at work say to me 'Why aren't you fat!? You eat all day' (Which I do, I'm always munching summat) and my reply is always because I WALK everywhere, I don't drive, I carry my shopping home from the supermarket. It's not FREAKING rocket science people. Coincidently the people who always say this to me are the pudgy or downright obese ones.

Stairs are too dangerous
-Could slip on a Banana
-Stairs often carry more bacteria on the railings
-Not friendly for wheelchair users
-Often have chewing gum which will stick to your feet

Lift every time for me as I can quickly check my hair in the mirrors :p

Stairs. Work only has 6 floors, I'm based on the ground and only occasionally go upstairs. Plus, the lifts take forever. If I worked in a 30 storey building, I would probably take the lift though ;)

stairs for me unless the lift is already where I need it to be.

the majority of the time you can just use the stairs and get to where you want before the lift would have came to pick you up

I take the stairs, I believe humanity as a race is becoming too sedentary, too lazy, reliant on machinery. It won't be long until we're experiencing a wall-e type situation, a few hundred years maybe.

Healthy? Well lets see, overweight, high fat high salt diet, past hard drug use, current soft drug use, rampant alcoholism, smoked 40 a day for a decade (although I rarely smoke now), what else, oh yeah, I have huge stress problems. It's remarkable I have lived this long, nonetheless I reserve my right to have an opinion on the way humanity is going.

Work on the 6th floor and it depends. The main floor I go to is the 1st for the canteen.

If I'm in a rush I'll take the lift, otherwise stairs. Always tend to take the lift down for some reason.

Also, can only walk up to the sixth floor from the first and above. So often I won't bother walking the stairs in the morning because I don't see the point of getting the lift to the first floor just so I can walk up the remaining five flights of stairs...

Ill take the stairs most of time. Sometimes if i am going to the basement (3 floors) ill press the button to see if the lift is there and if i have to wait, ill go down the stairs. I know that means that the lift will open at the floor with no one there. But the lifts are quite poor where i work and there is no way of knowing if its there or not and sometimes can take a few mins to appear.

So, the question remains, are you a lift or a stairs person? And do you consider yourself quite healthy?
Both and yes.

I work on 2nd floor, always walk up the stairs when I get into the office in the morning. During the day I take the lift up/down if it's already on my floor. Otherwise I take the stairs because by the time the lift comes then I would've already walked down/up to the floor that I need to be on.

Another question, do you guys like to walk up escelators? Or not...

I do most of the time although it depends who I'm with and how busy it is. For the lift question - I'll almost always take the stairs for anything up to 4 or 5 floors unless I'm with someone else and they can't/won't take the stairs although even then I have been known to walk anyway and say I'll meet them there. I'd like to think I'm reasonably healthy but I've no doubt I could be fitter.
