I upgraded from an i3-2120 to my new i7-4770k yesterday, now trying out overclocking (first time).

Case: Corsair 540
Board: Z87X-OC
CPU: i7-4770k
Cooler: Corsair H100i

I'm using RealBench v1.1 to test stability and have 4.5 stable right now but the temps seem a bit too high.

Multi: 45
Vcore: 1.295
Ring: : 1.114
Vrin override: 1.75
Vrin LLC: Extreme
C1E, C3, C6/7, EIST: Disabled

No other settings changed. I would like to OC my memory and gpu once I have the CPU stable at reasonable temps.

Just opened Corsair Link to try setting the fans a bit faster and found it isn't reading the h100i temp/fan speeds (it was before I started trying to OC).

I'm going back to stock to check if that fixes Corsair Link then going to try get those temps lower, any tips to reduce them?

Corsair Link now working again after a firmware update and registry edit.

Try to drop the vcore or pop the lid haswells run hot nothing other you can do about it

I'll try lowering Vcore again but not sure I'd want to pop the lid, buying retail for 3 year warranty then voiding it straight away seems a bit of a waste.

Corsair link is buggy as heck, it does that sometimes and you need to "reset" it from the settings, or make a new profile with defaults.

In any case, the only ways to decrease temps are: Increase case airflow, tweak voltages, or re-sit the cooler with a good thermal paste like the Gelid stuff that's been reviewed in the sticky.

I didn't have any problems with corsair link before, guess the upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 could have affected it though.

I'm using MX-4 right now, freshly applied yesterday (might get a bit better after it has been on for a bit, right?).

Vcore on optimised defaults is 1.061

Planning to replace my case fans but that will have to wait for now.

Stable and a couple of degrees lower.

Vcore: 1.265
VRing: Auto (HWinfo reading 1.363-1.373, is that safe or too high? Going to try set it lower now anyway.)
Vrin override: Auto (1.776-1.8 range on HWinfo during test)

Edit:
Max temps reduced to 80/79/77/72 by switching h100i fans to performance mode.

Stable under 80 now (just):

Vcore: 1.256
Vring: 1.19

Time to try OC the RAM. This is what I have

Edit:
4770k @ 4.5 with Vcore lowered to 1.25
GeiL Black Dragon DDR3 1600CL11 @ 2133 (auto timings)

I haven't messed with the timings yet, not sure exactly what to change there. Any issues with any of the voltage settings?
Going to run memtest for an hour or 2 now.

I spoke too soon, unstable :( (Although memtest reported no errors after 2 hours).

Dropped RAM back to 1600, increased Vcore to 1.27. Going to try some games and hope the 4.5GHz is stable at least.
