Just had an indian guy call me to fix my PC as it was full of viruses. I thought I would entertain him.

He made me go into event viewer to show me all my terrible errors and help me fix them. Then direct me to their actually fairly professionally looking website.

I took the best part of 30 minutes to get that far playing dumb.

Then tried to make me click on some EXE download at which point I told him "by the way I know this is a scam, I just thought Id waste your time". He then started to swear at me I cant repeat on here what he said lol. To which I laughed at him and hung up.

Point is, I can see how so many people get suckered into this, kinda sad really that people can call unsolicited and prey on the vulnerable.

I did this too - immensely satisfying if you have time.

I had him on speaker phone whilst surfing the net. they do swear don't they :D

However it is a sad situation to find ourselves in - I still have no option from my network provider to block calls like this. I understand it is quite difficult but if you 1471 these calls you often get a very short number or a quite strange number that they could try and pick up on.

blocking withheld numbers helped for a while but they are wise to it now.

I'm going to call BT and get my number changed, I currently have the car crash indians and now ive really upset the pc indians, so i expect more indians will call me soon.

Is there a way of blocking international calls?

"Hold on mate, sounds important, I've gotta get the kids out of the bath first though"

Then I just put the phone down and walk away, get a cup of coffee or, have a **** just leave them on the line.

Or more fun, start making noises like I'm beating some children "GET THE **** OUT OF THE BATH YOU LITTLE ****" then make some beating noises and a scream "WHY DO YOU MAKE ME DO IT? GET THE **** IN THE CAGE!". Then pick up the phone to the disturbed scammer/ telemarketer (same thing really) hello, now what were you saying?

I mean obviously child abuse disgusts me but if I can ruin some *****s day I'm pretty much happy to joke about it.

I just another one of these calls - but it got a bit more entertaining.
He explained the usual - 'my PC is downloading corrupted files etc etc', and when I asked him his name and his companies name he got a bit agitated.

I then asked him to remove my details from his database - the conversation went like this:
Me: "Remove my details please"
Scammer "We can't"
Me: "Why not?"
Scammer: "We can't, you have to pay if you want us to remove your details" (lol!)
Me: "You expect me to pay? There's no way I'm doing that. You are just scamming people"
Scammer: "Yes"
Me: "So you admit you're scamming people?"
Scammer: "Yes".
Me: "I wish you wouldn't do that"
Scammer "Ok, well go **** yourself"

Haha, I've never had that before! He told me to go and copulate with myself! Priceless.

A friend of mine* had one of these calls and managed to keep them on the phone for about 30 minutes before asking where he would find task manager on his Mac.

*He may have made it all up

I was watching videos of these calls on YouTube yesterday. In one of them they had them remotely connect to a virtual machine running windows 98. Surprised the remote connection software actually worked. It did take 3 attempts to find a method that worked though

Funny though it sounds, I think I'd get bored at trying to wind them up after 5 minutes or so.
