Don't you have to keep paying a subscription to use Office 365? There is always Openoffice which is free but the budget easily allows for buying MS office 2013. If she is a student she might be able to get office and the OS cheaply.

Maybe a 1KW PSU and slight change of GFX card.

If its a pc for a girl, I wouldn't buy anything that might cause problems or your gf's dad might chase you with an axe :-)
I would skip the watercooling and 290s unless your gf is good with computers.

I think binnsy has a good build two posts above. Hes got the right idea tbh.

It all depends how much your GF is into pc's, if shes really into the whole pushing her system (or learning about it, could be a fun nerdy couple thing!) then yer go push that budget. However if shes like my GF and totally doesn't give two sods as long as it works and can play games then I'd say skip the water cooling/CFing. If she is into pc's and knows about OCing/troubleshooting basic issues with drivers/cf issues on certain games/etc, then yer go as extreme as you feel comfortable with building!

Just my 2cents either ways. If shes not gonna be interested in Ocing/pushing her PC, then its a waste to get CF'd graphics and water cooling. It will just cause more annoyance to her (and you)!

do not go for two GPU's as posted above it can be a nightmare, keep it simple drop the most powerful Single GPU solution in there (The 290 flashed to 290x is cheaper than the 290x but its your choice here) or the 780/780ti basically. Dont get a screen that requires 2 GPUS to run decently (anything 1440p or under is fine imo)

2.5k is a hefty budget frankly and you can do a lot for it, If you want looks that can be factured in.

single gpu with this monitor(or another 120/144hz) for gaming http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-070-BQ

OK my turn :)

Wouldn't spec a 290 card (especially not 2!) for your missus pal, the noise will drive her and her family crazy. They'll either think the PC is dodgy or that you don't know what you're doing. :p

Very much an enthusiast's card, for general desktop use you'll probably want a cheap Nvidia, a 5 or 6xx series. Save you some money too, unless she games? You didn't mention.

as its another girlgamer in need i had a go :)

left some in budget for keyboard/mouse as its kinda personal thing, you could get her a nice backlit ducky or something but myself i like a smaller keyboard, and the screen i picked was mostly to do with i love a glossy screen, she might not

also i couldnt find the power adapters for the slot loading drive ><

you could go smaller ssd but i run out space on my 256 so *shrug*

For ethers, dooms and binnsys specs I'd say seasonic g 650w psu or maybe the 750w if you want more head room, if those are going to be single card systems.

Well did you read the op? It says gaming PC so unless that means something else to you then yes she games(well the gaming part could be for the gfs father but either way it will be used for gaming), therefore a cheap 5 or 6xx series card is out unless going for low detail/res in games.
