Full-time job whilst studying a degree

Full-time job + full time degree. Pretty much destroyed all social life, but came out with first-class degree. Continued and did the same with Masters; left with distinction.

Immensely difficult, but very rewarding and easier on the £££.

You can do it.

Talk to anyone doing a grad scheme with professional qualifications.

Most of them are working 40+ hours a week, and still studying. They might get a day off a week to study, but I'm not sure people realise quite how much material there is until they get it....

If it were a day job, not a chance in hell! As it's nights it's a bit more possible, but I'd 100% advise against it! You'll just not have enough time.

Another aspect of the job is that there's not much to do on the night shift - so it would give me the opportunity to take my laptop in to do some course work, the job entails manning a desk/phone in case of emergencies basically.

I know my social life would take a big knock but considering i'm only in university for 10-12 hours per week and I can download nearly all of my lecture slides the job is tempting..

I'm currently half way through second year also.

Perhaps just take the job and see how it works out... you can always leave the job... if it involves night shifts then it could be a no brainer - while other students are getting wasted in the local night clubs you can get some studying done and earn more money.... (am assuming you're a mature student? - if not then tbh... get a part time job and go enjoy student life - you're only young once)

Did 15 hours part time in my final year for computer science degree. Started off okay, but after christmas it became a struggle with all the extra work.

Yep nearly 24 here so starting to quieten down on the party side of things.

I think I would actually get more uni work done on the nightshift than I do at present.

Also - I currently do 3 full day shifts a week and have done so for the majority of my first 2 years at University and have been fine so far.

I would be swapping the 3 day shifts for 4 night shifts instead.
