This video from TB:

Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion, locking a game to 30fps on PC when they said there would be no frame rate lock and when you do change it it breaks the game.

Has anyone else had an experience with this?

Surely it can't be that hard to optimise for pc...

30fps for a racing game? seriously? seriously?

EDIT Seems thats the least of the game's problems lol... and thats a biggy for a racing game.

I wouldn't call need for speed rivals a AAA game.

Possibly not but its produced by EA and developed by an inhouse EA developer + criterion who are/were a big name developer. You expect better from a company that big (though not seriously as its EA) BF4 was both my first (in a long time) and last (possibly ever) EA purchase they just don't care a single bit about gamers. Having seen that video - even if it is a little tiny bit exaggerated for effect - any one who cares about PC gaming wouldn't be giving EA any more money either :|

What you say would also be true for me, but Watch DOgs is coming out soon :( and it look so good!

Probably a cost thing. If the sales expectations on the PC weren't going to justify the extra work to bring it up to "PC level" after porting it from a console then they aren't going to do it.

That is just absurd though, they are completely alienating a large amount of their customers

I was tempted into buying BF4 in a similiar way after sticking to not buying EA games for all the time Origin has existed so far... should have known better :| atleast BF4 doesn't make me sit through 2+ minutes of unskippable intros every start up and/or be locked at 30fps though, its still a broken mess with little regard for PC users.

very true. My experience with bf4 is just laggy and horrible frame rates. Even though I have an fx-8320 and a gtx 690

Wow, did they seriously not make the physics and graphics engines independent enough from each other to cope with differing frame rates? That is unbelievably poor, especially for a racing game. What happens if you're on a low end PC that suddenly decides to do a big virus check or something else happens that slows the PC down, causing the game to drop below 30FPS on the settings you have? By the looks of things your car will suddenly become a lot slower than the AI, which EA couldn't seriously have thought was acceptable.

I cant think of any driving game that's made such a major mistake as this. The closest I can think of is an old lego game with a bit of driving in it I played when i was around 6

Yeah it's bad. Last time I saw it happening was in Skyrim with physics going mental due to FPS going over 60, but it has some random funny moments and was still perfectly playable with vertical sync on.

Don't get me wrong, I hate dodgy console ports as much as the next guy and it's a joke that they can release a game on the PC with stuff like that missing... but if it financially doesn't make sense, they won't oblige.

I might be reading this wrong, but you seem to think Watch Dogs is an EA game?... If so, it isn't. It is a ubisoft game, nothing to do with EA. (still, ubisoft, so it has its own reasons to avoid!)

That was me being silly :p thanks for the correction ;)

I know that this is true, but it is so sad that that they are that way inclined :(

It's just EA. First they screwed the Fifa fans over by sticking the PC version of '14 on the old engine and giving consoles the new one. Now they've gone and ordered Criterion to physics lock the FPS in Rivals... coincidence? In Most Wanted, you could unlock the framerate before the 60fps patch and it was fine, but now it's suddenly hardlocked into the physics? It's been done on purpose.

I don't see why though when EA have Origin... Maybe Origin is just EA's guise to keep us buying their products whilst we are being lured into playing their titles on consoles if we want the best versions. No idea why though, surely they'd want us to buy their games on Origin instead of consoles if we have access to both? Maybe Microsoft and Sony are giving them some incentives. We'll never know, because companies are allowed to lie to us, despite being funded by our purchases.
