Lack of respect for PC from AAA titles

Isnt the game aimed at 11 yr olds anyway who wouldn't have a clue what they're doing or what FPS even is.

No great loss if it doesn't work on PC

Why just for PC? A lot of AAA titles are an insult to any game. Need for Speed Rivals is just as much an insult to console gamers, 30fps is cancerous regardless of platform ... at least PC have the option of trying to get around it despite how badly that turns out in the case of this game.

It's just EA. First they screwed the Fifa fans over by sticking the PC version of '14 on the old engine and giving consoles the new one. Now they've gone and ordered Criterion to physics lock the FPS in Rivals... coincidence? In Most Wanted, you could unlock the framerate before the 60fps patch and it was fine, but now it's suddenly hardlocked into the physics? It's been done on purpose.

I don't see why though when EA have Origin... Maybe Origin is just EA's guise to keep us buying their products whilst we are being lured into playing their titles on consoles if we want the best versions. No idea why though, surely they'd want us to buy their games on Origin instead of consoles if we have access to both? Maybe Microsoft and Sony are giving them some incentives. We'll never know, because companies are allowed to lie to us, despite being funded by our purchases.

Good post. It is a tad confusing how EA seem to **** on PC Gamers, yet at the same they desperatly want Origin to topple Steam. I dont understand it one bit. It's like the company is on the road to self destruction and they are quite enjoying the journey getting there.

I watched that video a few days ago. Its tragic. In this day and age the likes of TotalBiscuit and other Youtubers can have an influance over game sales. Gone are the days when developers can secretely pull this kind of crap off only for magazines to pick up on it a month later. Every move these companies make is under close anaylsis.

I cant think of any driving game that's made such a major mistake as this. The closest I can think of is an old lego game with a bit of driving in it I played when i was around 6

Believe it or not, Grand Theft Auto did it. If you disabled the framerate limiter, the game ran crazy fast assuming you had a decent PC.

Was hilarious - you'd "crater" just jumping off a knee high object as it thought you'd dropped a lot further due to the number of frames that has past. (That engine used some funky timing stuff though just overclocking your CPU on a non-standard multiplier would result in the game time randomly running extremely fast even with the frame limiter on).

total biscut and the likes are corporate sell outs also though.

moar product placement please

Just remembered that even as recently as GTA:SA there were still issues, there was this mission near the end where you had to drive a bike on to a plane before it took off, I found it literally impossible (like 20 attempts) until I enabled the frame limiter, then did it first time.

I actually really enjoy TB's videos and a lot of the time he is just stating the game which is usually hilarious. As far as him being a 'sell out' I think that every one in his position has to be that way inclined to keep going. He still expresses his opinion very freely

don't get me wrong I like his videos and he does give an honest opinion so far.

product placement always irks me though.

only a matter of time before EA etc start bribing them?

I don't know about TB, but i know nerdcubed often gets offered thousands of pounds to review games, but has refused the money so far

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed! All I can chalk it up to is a sort of pseudo internal power struggle, where somebody who's got pull within the company but isn't an actual gaffer is trying to get EA a good foothold within the PC platform, whilst some old brylcreemed git in a suit has his blinkers on and wants EA off it completely. So passionate long term employee with vision and strong foresight vs. old Mr. Shareholder.
