Hello folks,

My venerable HTC Sensation is coming to the end of its plan - I can upgrade on contract from December 23rd.

I'm looking for recommendations.

What I liked about the Sensation:Nice screen
Good responsiveness in-hand
Decent Wi-fi
Powerful enough to run most apps I tried on it
Gets decent signal most places
Battery easily lasts a full day
HTC Sense interface is nice, but not a deal breaker

What I didn't like:Bloody thing turns itself off at random (get it out of pocket and it's just off) - seriously aggravating over time. Has happened since day one - usually only a few times a month, but sometimes you'll get a day when it won't stay on for more than 5 minutes.
Starting to be a bit slow changing tasks
Wi-Fi is not dual band (just got a dual-band router, so could now use it)
Grinds to a halt when updating 'in the background'.
Web browsing can be a bit slow (better now I use Dolphin mini)

What I don't care about:
Bluetooth
Advanced gaming (I rarely go beyond match-3 type games to kill 5 minutes)

Suggestions for phones accessible through Vodafone contract or off-contract with a one-off price of £200 or less would be ideal.

I'm sure I'd love the HTC One but I doubt Vodafone will give me that so cheap.

Annoyingly, Vodafone won't tell you what's available on contract renewal until the renewal date.

I guess I'll see what quote they give me for an HTC One, and if it's too expensive look at the Nexus 5.

I was torn between the HTC One and the G2... went for the G2 in the end :)

End result - Vodafone don't offer the Nexus 5 for upgrades, nor do they have a fully working website.

Went to carphone warehouse - got upgraded to Nexus 5, kept number (still on Vodafone) same as current minutes, texts, data. £50 up front and £10 less a month than previous contract.

A few days in and I love it to bits. Picked up an LG Quickcover to try and stop me breaking it too fast, but it's genuinely lovely to use.
