MSI 780 Memory

Mine has Hynix, but I think it's a lottery on what MSI has available at the time. They probably save the better stuff for the Lightning.

If it has Hynix then send it back, It's really bad for overclocking.

???

Hynix is better than Elpida and Samsung is better than Hynix and why would you return a card if it has memory that doesn't clock as well as other stuff. Sure if you are a hardened bencher but for gaming, it won't matter an iota.

Got Hynix mixed up with Elpida >.<, If I'm spending £500 on a single card then I want to know it has good parts :)

Am I right in thinking that overclocking the memory gives you very little extra performance on a 780 ?

PGI is spot on. Core is king and memory does help but once you get to a point, it is such a diminishing return, it becomes pointless.

+400 on the memory might give an extra 3 fps over stock and +500 might give an extra 3.3fps.

I would be after a higher core clock than a higher memory clock but both have a part to play.
