GTX 780 vs 7990 vs R9 290

I always said be wary of those French reviewers Matt. Never trust anyone who eats snails and has a string of onions around his neck :D

:p

They earned my respect tbh. These sort of shady practices need to be publicised, condemned and ultimately stopped. Optimising for your own tech is one thing, but blocking performance improvements for other vendors should never be acceptable.

And to be fair, if I was staunch at supporting AMD, I would cut my nose off to spite my face and not play any TWIMTBP titles as well. :p

I've had some bad experiences with TWIMTBP titles.

Remember Aliens Colonial Marines and Resident Evil 6? Seen the multi gpu scaling on those titles? Eek.

Thats a step in the right direction at least. :)

However the line that followed quickly reminded me why i generally just avoid TWIMTBP titles these days.

"Nvidia’s GPU-accelerated PhysX effects, on the other hand, are exclusive to its cards"

Naw i wanted smoke as well as fur. :p

A Leapard doesn't change its spots overnite :D

It's all BS,
I don't trust a single damn online review regardless of the reputation of the site,
Much easier to get the card into your system and check it yourself, i did, @55 fan speed my 290X was around 35db while in my case and the Db device placed where i sit.

Even if i didn't have the ability to check the Dbs..

I've got myself a MKII "Mrs" sitting 4 Ft away from, her ears tuned into any annoying sounds while she gets here soaps fix. If the card was as loud as people make it out to be, i'd be the first to know about it, via a drop kick to the family jewels.

Lol, and +1 to the review from owners rather than websites.

But that is down to AMD to sort out. Just because it is an Nvidia sponsored game, it doesn't mean they make the game. They have devs in place and optimise it to work well on Nvidia hardware and the same as AMD GE titles. They also have devs in place that optimise it for AMD hardware.

Take BF4 for example, Nvidia took a month to get BF4 running well. Take Sleeping dogs. It took Nvidia ages to get that running fast and still haven't. I blame Nvidia for this and no one else.

I don't understand the emotional attachment that a GPU gives to some. I love my Titan but I wouldn't marry it ffs :D

They were just terrible games, terribly optimized with poor scaling. Doesn't matter which gpu you own. Also when you see the type of shady behaviours seen above it makes you think twice about even bothering. Once bitten twice shy and all that. Not forgetting the shady things we've seen before, Crysis 2, assassin's creed the list goes on.

when will you release the benchmark :D?
Been thinking shall I upgrade my I5 3550 to I7 3770K, as I can feel a bit laggy at maxed setting @ AC4, around 3x-4x fps.

I've started it. I've decided to just keep it down to games now as otherwise it will take ages. I'm also not sure which part of Battlefield 4 to bench. I'm open to suggestions.

Better to focus on the newer games only, but would like to see the AMD/NVIDIA favored game, like BF4 (AMD) & AC4 (NVIDIA)

btw What is your computer spec?

I'm afraid i don't own AC4. Does it have a built in consistent benchmark? If it does i could try to aquire it somehow. Games without built in benchmarks are chore to bench if im honest so i try to keep them to a minimum.

PC Spec

2700k@5ghz (for benching)
7990@1000/1500 & 1125/1625
16gb 2133mhz ram
Win8.1

If I tell you are you going to say "Your CPU will bottleneck you?" followed by "your PSU does not have enough power?"

If the answer is yes to the above then I have a hex core CPU and a fusion powered PSU.

Oh don't tease me...

I have a 1000w OCZ PSU & 3770k @ 4.6ghz.

I figure 1000 should be enough, I have a second PSU I can use for running benchmarks.

If I need to upgrade I will get a second 1000w OCZ.
