Is it Legal for a baby to ride pillion on a Motorcycle?

Nobody will ever convince me that helmets don't protect after I woke up in A&E earlier this year.
I went over on black ice going round a corner and had no time to react.
My £89 helmet was split and the A&E Clinicians said I would have been dead or seriously brain damaged without it.

I'll also add that why can I legally not wear a helmet but I can go at the same speed of a helmet wearing moped rider?
I've been in situations where a moped wasn't going fast enough because they can only do 30mph.

And Arknor, if a runner is going the same speed as you then shame on you.
Obviously there will be certain parts of your journey where this can happen but as soon as it comes to open roads/areas 25 to 30 mph is not unheard of and I'm an old bloke with arthritis everywhere.

Everyone in road cycling essentials knows I'm slow :D

My last ride

look how little I'm actually on any road, Even the bit where it looks like im on roads most of it is actually a shared footpath alongside the road like the picture on the last page.

The longest segment on that ride is 1.5miles

it's not really terrain suited to high speeds.
more like a nature trail for the majority of it, you get a lot of old people walking on the route etc they turn up in a mini bus :D

If I were a commuter or went on routes that had busy roads then I would wear a helmet but not everyone lives in London, some of us can choose to ride away from cars and lorries

I must agree that when I cycle up big banks I always think I could do better running up.

I will also agree (for me at least) what a poster was trying to get at when he was on about a rider crashing into a wall and saying that because he had a helmet on he was willing to take more risks.
This is absolutely true for me and an example was when I got 1 mile from my house and realised I hadn't got my helmet on so the rest of the journey and back home was done at half speed because there's no way I would do 30+ without a helmet.

pretty sure I said that :P

people are saying I'm stupid for not wearing a helmet but look at my speed and where I ride, I'm taking no more risks than someone who is running without a helmet

I ride for the enjoyment of riding , not racing to get to a destination.
