Credit card payment got blocked when i tryed to order two GTX 780ti this morning

Count yourself lucky... sort of.. NATWEST have let me buy £2500 worth of stuff with OCUK only to block my card 3 days later and ask me to phone them to sort it. They then checked the details of certain transactions - including the 2.5k one!! Let the money go and items be delivered- AND THEN CHECK! Epic stuff

So maybe it isn't such a bad thing

I've only ever had the automatic fraud call from Natwest for one transaction and that was for a couple of quid to a company based in Panama, apart from that everything has always gone through.

To be honest your bank failed here.

What they should do is approve the amount and call you immediately. The rationale being that they cannot prosecute credit card fraud if no transaction has been completed which is why they would normally process the approval then call you immediately and ask you to confirm the transaction.

Had you been a fraudster, they would have been giving you a heads up!

I expect my HSBC credit card to fail on large online purchases. I receive an almost instant call from the Indian dude to confirm it was me and then i can resubmit my order which works.

I get a call "your accounts has been flagged for possible fraudulent activities please verify your last 5 purchases" but doesn't list the one I'm trying to make, phone the bank and get them to "clear the flag" and "flag the purchase as ok" and get assured that I'm now ok to order and bam blocked straight away again.

Dunno why it let me this time but might have been due to the first order being a fairly small amount then another order a bit bigger and then another bigger one rather than a big one in one go.

yeah its like you pay for £20 of petrol, £50 shopping £20 of vodka/beer fine, when ya suddenly drop £1100 of 780Ti's its unusual and they make sure your card hasnt bin stolen and some asshat has seen your pin, usually if its a debit card and someones used the pin they generally wont do anything maybe unless its WAAAY out of line cus my mum has had hers stolen but if its a credit card your generally protected quite well. But abroad on my debit card ive always had an automated message from my bank telling me to confirm that i want money withdrawn from like cyprus so its for your safety its not gone thorugh

I usually get an automated phone call from the bank (happened when I got a new job in London and used my card at an ATM) then you confirm the last 3 or 4 transactions and it's all good :)
