Good evening all,

I need to build my friend a gaming PC (1080p) for £600 that is future proof to the extent that it will just need a GPU replacement every 1-1.5 years for the foreseeable.

It will need an OS (Windows 7) but won't need a monitor or peripherals. I have been out of the loop for a while so I'm not up to date on the best £/performance components at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I've forwarded Stulid's advice and it looks like he is will be going with the build. For arguments sake, what's the best equivalent Intel build for the price?

At this budget, nothing worth bothering with. You'd need a 4670K to be competitive, and that's an extra £60, plus the extra for a decent Z87 board.

you could get rid of the os and use the 90 days window 8.1 enterprise trial, then after the trial is up buy a full version of windows(be it windows 7 or 8). would need to do a full reinstall unless I'm wrong.

hmm seems someone has stulid envy, to go on top of ether envy :p
