Hello!

A few days ago I posted in SFF as I was set on the Prodigy. Thinking it over I don't want to be limited by motherboard size and having to worry about length of GPU's etc so here I am.

I'm looking to play BF4 maxed at 1920x1080 and run some virtual machines to assist with my IT studies (hence 16gb RAM).

I'd like it to be relatively future proof and obviously get the most bang for my buck.

Few concerns:

  • What is the difference between the H100 and H100i - is it worth the extra?
  • Is the i7 4770k worth the extra £'s? Light virtualisation..It's purely for a test lab when needed.
  • People have noted the fans are noisy on the Carbide. How much extra will replacements cost?
  • Am I going overkill on the PSU? I'd rather go in high and keep it for a long time if I ever add another GPU.
  • Is the R9 290 completely overkill? Should I go lower on GPU and go for the 4770 to even out the build? I'm unlikely to be gaming on more than one screen and 1920 is fine for the moment.
  • I went for the Carbine purely due to looks and price. It seems to be great for the money and a messy builder wanting to hide cables! Size isn't a concern. Any reason I should reconsider?

I already have a large 2tb drive that can be used for additional storage.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your input stulid.

Any reason as to why you've switched the RAM or just personal preference?

Adding in the 4770K it takes me to £1372. Good overall spec in your opinion?

Personally like the Asus monitor more then the Dell, it also has 2 HDMI ports which is nice. I would just wait for someone slightly more experienced them me to double check the build, but it looks good too go from my point of view.

If you want a red theme, upgrade the board to the UD4H.

That Patriot RAM matches perfectly (I've got them both).

Ha you tarts. I hadn't even thought about colour scheme!

Ok so I switched to the blue RAM (I guess it does make sense with the window).

Not sure which monitor you're referring to stulid? It's at 169.99 for me?

Your card is red, so I'd get the better UD4H and the cheaper Patriot RAM :)

If you're unlikely to put in two 290s you could drop down to a good 650W PSU and save yourself £20-£30.

Ordered last night! Should be here Tuesday.. I may be online asking build questions as I haven't done this in a LONG time.

:D
