Today i've pondered over the idea of people's jokes.

Primarily when they're taking the mickey out of you. I think that theres got to be some truth to the joke, or there'd be no reason for them to pick up on it, even if they claim to mean nothing by it..

If they didnt mean anything by it then why would they joke, theres then surely got to be an underlying acceptance by the one taking the mickey and the claim of a joke is a 'nice way to say it'. But in my eyes isnt really that acceptable and is almost a cowardly way of telling somebody the truth?

Thoughts?

'Banter' it's called, there was a thread about this a while back but yeah people can and do use it as a form of bullying.

Yes if someone says something insulting about you then says "ah only joking" basically they are taking the p**s out of you.

Just having banter mate.

Blame TOWIE.

I ****ing hate the word 'banter'.

I also cringe when people are making moves on a girl and they get knocked back, and they then say "Just kidding", NO YOU WEREN'T.

Why has there got to be any truth in it? It's very easy to make something up on the spot and stick you in the middle of that scenario with a funny twist.

I've had two heart attacks and my mate starts every email to me with.. "You dead yet baldy?"

I think it's cuz he thinks I'm leaving him my car in my will.

Me and my group of friends are quite weird, in that every single character flaw, every screw up, every tiny mistake gets jumped on and we get slaughtered for it. It's just the way we work. A cousin from the US came over and it took him a few days to realise that we don't actually hate each others guts, but really it's just our sense of humour and we get a great laugh.

I'm perfectly happy with this situation, nobody talks behind backs, nobody bitches, if anything has to be said it gets said. Absolutely nothing is off limits, and that's the way it should be.

Nope, not in the slightest. Of course people talk, but not one of them would say something behind my back that they wouldn't say to me the second I see them. What's the point, we're not women.
