Hi, bought an 8800gt on launch day, must have been 2007. Anyway, it has been a great card but it's life finally ended today whilst residing in my daughter's PC after I upgraded to to an ATI 5770 a few years back.

My plan now is to put the 5770 in my daughter's PC and I'll upgrade my own PC. However, I'm out of the loop! Is there anything I can buy for approx £100 that will be a good upgrade on the 5770? I want quiet and won't be overclocking. My resolution is 1920x1080p. The most demanding game I anticipate playing is IL2 Battle of Stalingrad.

I have no preference for ATI or Nvidia.

Thanks in advance for advice.

Thanks for the responses.

My cpu is an i7 920.
My psu is a Lian Li modular 750w.

I think I'd prefer to stay away from a used gpu. The 7850 looks tempting if I can stretch to it.

Hold on until friday if you can, i hear there is going to possibly be a sub £100 7850 if they can sort something out with AMD.

Edit - Can confirm there will be a nice 7850 2gb deal this friday

Sweet, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to have a look.

Why is it that when you start researching the latest and greatest you try and justify to yourself the more expensive stuff? I've been having a look at some of the top end stuff and wow there is some powerful cards out there.

I'm now curious as to what my cpu etc can handle before bottlenecks etc. As an example, i'm wondering if it is worth paying the extra for something like this?: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-193-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914

Snagging a 2GB 7850 for around £100 will be the king for your budget. Just make sure it's the 2GB version!
