Whos PS4 has failed so far?

Are they not all made in China? Or are there different factories for them?

There is/was a rumour going around that PS4's made in China are inferior to ones made in Japan but I dont think there has been any official confirmation of this.

Sony use a company called Foxconn to assemble the PS4's in China but they also have factories in Japan I believe. Foxconn also assemble things like the iPhone etc too I think.

Anyway, it seems that US PS4's were manufactured in China but some EU consoles are being made in Japan. Identified by the 'made in china' or 'made in japan' printing on the boxes but this quickly translated into ALL consoles for the EU are manufactured in Japan - aka better - but this rumour was quashed - http://www.gamepur.com/news/12940-r...it-europe-made-japan-image-released-proo.html

However, there was another rumour that these faulty consoles were coming from China as workers were deliberately sabotaging consoles on the production line. True?....who knows.

IMO, the whole China/Japan debate is just silly. Sony are going to have a percentage of faulty units no matter where they were made.

EDIT: Just to add, my friends console was made in china.

Sounds Like Sony have a pretty awesome RMA process for those DOA consoles. Pretty good that they will send one out to be swapped straight away.

Blinking blue light of death here.
Sony swapping it out tomorrow. Very impressive customer service.

Amazon were useless to be honest which surprised me.
At one point in a protracted conversation about whether or not they would be able to swap it for me they suggested I contact Microsoft to check their stock levels. Priceless.

What's the deal for you guys with duds who bought instore. Do Sony still have to swap or can you go instore and pick up a replacement?

People are doing it through Sony because they reserve stock for replacements, unlike retailers, and are a good deal more efficient.

rang Sony today after receiving mine with the flashing blue night and no HDMI signal

Carrying out a swap tomorrow! Excellent service so far, just fingers crossed the replacement works

Did you get an email or anything from Sony?
As per my post above, I too am expecting replacement tomorrow but don't have any mail confirmation or anything.

The guys who are having problems with their PS4's, are they bundled with killzone or stand alone one's?

Really gutted for the people suffering issues! Thankfully mine arrived okay, great machine, wasn't actually looking forward to it as much since getting my Xbox One but I'm pleasantly surprised! :)

No email to confirm no, would have been nice if I had. Just got given a reference number

I'm 99% sure she said tomorrow and she kept saying I'll receive a text in the morning to confirm a time. I'll be estatic if it happens but part of me things a swap within a day is not going to happen

Mines is a weird 1. Set it up and all i got was no display, with my tv telling me "mode not supported". Fiddled around with it, including trying other hdmi cables/ ports and most I could get was some background music and a slight flickering at top and bottom of screen. After nearly 2 hours I eventually got it to display in safe mode, but as soon as I again tried setting resolution to 1080p it again showed no display with "mode not supported".

Not having another tv, i resorted to taking it to my parents and trying it there. Newer LG tv and it worked 1st time with zero problems. So I am assuming it is some sort of HDCP compatibilty issue between my tv and the ps4. Tv in question is a Samsung LCD circa 2008 with no usb port so unable to update firmware. Gutted.

Sorry to hear about you people having problems :(
It was a worry in my mind too but thankfully i got one that seems to be 100% fine.
Hope you guys manage to get a replacement soon as possable.

Blue pulse here, Sony are swapping it on Tuesday.
DPD are being sent out with a swap it tote. Once they check the serial, they leave me a brand new one and take away the faulty one.

called 0844 736 0595 and got some great customer service.

Mine was dead on arrival, heartbroken.

Thank you so much for the number, will phone at 8am as Amazon can offer nothing.

That is strange, as a precaution I've tried upgrading the firmware of my Samsung LED TV to see if that helps with the replacement when it arrives.
Wouldnt say no to a newer and bigger TV but don't think my missus would approve so soon after buying the PS4
