Could do with a printer for home use with a built in scanner too. No idea of which one to go for though, don't need anything special. Just something decent and economical.

Looking to spend around £60-100 on the printer and then as low as possible costs afterwards.

Not sure on quality but as far as ink prices go Kodak are about the cheapest. For my epsom it costs me around £45 for them both, but for Kodak it is around £22. Once my current ink has run out i'm changing for a Kodak.

My Mg5450 I always recommend, the compatibles are £11 and they're fantastic. Photo's are excellent with compat ink or normal from Canon.

Documents are clear. Lovely home/office printer.

Colour laser is the way forwards, we've had loads of inkjet but use them infrequently so they get clogged and the ink is expensive. We picked up a Dell 1250c and it's been brilliant, the toners last ages and it's much more reliable. Admittedly photo printing is average at best but for documents it's great.

Bought a Canon all-in-one about 6-8 weeks ago, was circa £55 I believe. Has wireless and all that too. Inks were reasonable price which is what I want, and it prints well, nice and quick with nice quality. Scan and copy functions are simple to use as well.

I always check to see if compatible's are available for the printer, my Canon ip4300 been on them from day one, can't remember the last time l'v had blocked heads.

Paid £20 for 5 full sets of ink cartridge's, would love a laser but colour photo's are not to good.

Far better get a laser if you do a lot of documents, etc.

Cheers everyone, think I may go down the Laser route as mentioned, still possible to get these for a reasonable price though with a scanner built in? If not then it will have to be an inkjet as I don't have the room for a separate scanner.

I'd go for a epson with low cost 3rd party ink, sets can be had for £5-10, never had any issues previously

All the epsons I've had get clogged and the ink is really expensive. Not impressed with any of them.

Think I might spend the extra for a colour laser

If you do a lot of printing a CIS (continuous ink system) is the only way to go. With mine for my Epson px720w the ink cost is tiny, £9.00 for 6 bottles of ink which will fill the CIS 4 times, with each filling being about the same as 4 sets of cartridges.

Won't be a lot of printing, only say around 5-10 pages a week I'd say. The scanner is more important to be honest.
