Sorry if this offends Ford lovers but 217BHP from a 2.5T?

That's the kind of thing that drives people to diesel.

indeed, was looking at 508 GTs the other day 2.2 HDi 200 horses :)

but that 5 pot is a peach basically a slightly limper version of that found in the focus ST/RS

Yes because it makes sense for a practical family hatchback to have its engine tuned to within an inch of its life as standard right?

Nobody seems to complain about the paltry 8 hp more in the Focus ST.

It's a brilliant all round engine but the early mk4 Mondeo interior is simply vile. Looks all kinds of fisher price. Funny how simply darkening the materials slightly transforms it.

Still its a lot of car for the cash

It'd blow your Audi into the weeds.

Yeah sure, have you looked at the specs on that ford?

2.5T 5 cylinder petrol making 217bhp and it does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds.

My car with only 140bhp will do 0-60 in 7.9 seconds with same torque figures. Wow a whole .4s difference.

But we aren't talking about audi a1's are we.

217bhp from a 2.5l turbo seems pretty crap when audi get over 340 with their 2.5l engine?

Its just not meant to be that kind of car tbh, maybe they were leaving the way open for another ST, maybe they just didn't think it would sell! Regardless of .4 of a second in 0-60 the Mondeo will have a much stronger engine on the move. Tbh there isn't really any comparison ( though I know you weren't the one making comparisons) between a 140 brake diesel power train and the 2.5t, they're miles apart

Slow and looks a bit boring. Interior looks outdated without some sort of nav/media screen.

3/10 would not buy.

It's under 6k for a decent, reliable saloon with an engine with a bit of character rather than the usual dagdag. I could live without nav for that.

Its got heated seats, heated screen, xenons too.

But it has about as much sex appeal as a potato..

I was drunk on a Friday night and it drove past me I would stick my hand out hoping for a taxi home.
