LIfe After Death

We are spiritual beings having a human experience. It is not over once we die in this life.

It's amazing what the fear of death makes people think.... Was forgivable when we resorted to worshipping the sun and stars, but today in this world of science and tech, it's a little blinkered.

Let's face it, we can explain the sun now, so don't worship it.... Now it's some invisible spirit life force, oh dear

  • Earth is a prison planet harboring souls of the wicked, we are the ABOS children of the lost gods.
  • Every reincarnation is a chance to get back to the reality of non corporeal being.
  • After death, you are lead into a cinema. In this cinema there sits every person you have ever known and together you all watch your life from start to finish.
  • The audience decides upon your parole.

I made this up, but I was channeling into the All-In-All-In-All, so it must be true.

I like the many worlds theory. If i were to die in this universe, other facsimilies of me live on in other universes.

:p

I would expect that to happen, unless civilisation collapses. There are already early experiments in bona fide cybernetics, such as cameras feeding to the brain and thus functioning as working artificial eyes. The first in vivo ones (Dobelle's work) worked but soon failed. The biggest problem with them has disappeared, though - the major infection risk of permanent holes in your skull with jack plugs in them. No need for that when you can wifi the signals through your skull. The level of vision is crap at the moment, but on paper it's possible to make it superior to natural vision. Night vision, magnification, telescopic vision...anything that can be done with a camera. Human brains are hugely versatile - people can learn to process the incoming data.

It's also theoretically possible to extend human lifespan in the same organic body. Our bodies are self-repairing and self-building. At any given time, much of your body is only days or weeks old. If the process could be made perfect, the average lifespan could be extended to centuries without needing any artificial parts. There are early experiments on that too, though they're nowhere near human trials yet. We're at the "very long-lived simple worms" stage at the moment.

Do you have any links to some good articles/videos on this subject? Especially related to your first paragraph. Regarding longevity, I've watched some talks given by Dr Aubrey De Grey and I find it fascinating :) from what I remember he believes it's almost a certainty that our life expectancy will grow rapidly in the future - in fact it's already growing quickly.

It's a big unknown, no one will ever know.

I think once you die, your soul is added to a queue that is then used for new lives. I hope I will be re-born in a world with flying cars, augmentations and living on a different planet than the Earth. Unless we get screwed over and instead of living in a high-tech world we will end up in post-apocalyptic world, like the one from Fallout. Wouldn't mind either.

In your interesting hypothetical scenario, there would be two of you at that instant in time. You and you would immediately start to diverge into two different people because you would be living different lives and at least to some extent a person is continuously altered by their experiences. The hardware would be relevant to the different experiences after the copying, but that's a different issue to whether each is a person or a simulation of a person. That's not about the platform you're running on - the question would be the same if you copied your consciousness into an organic body somehow copied from your own.

If you make an exact copy of some music from a CD and put it on a media player, is it the same music or is it a simulation of the music?

without wanting to repeat my previous post that would be another instance of yourself... essentially a clone of your consciousness - you'd create another being with your memories, traits etc... - its another separate person based on you from the moment you've created it... What you'd need to to to sustain yourself beyond the death of your physical body is sustain the current instance of you... perhaps keeping the brain going in some way or progressively augmenting it synthetically over time

Nearly 30 years ago, I did some work for a lady, who was selling her house, her husband had die only a few months early & she was downsizing.

Got chatting to her, she never liked the house, but her husband did,I found out she put his ashes in my mixer with the concrete I was mixing for the path.

So it's unlikely he will be reincarnated now.:D

You wake up as another person. No recollections or anything. You just become a new person.

Yeah sort of, your soul just transfers into another body. This process of life and death continues until we lose all connections with materialism and reach the stage we realise we're just spiritual beings and the ultimate goal is to get past the process of life and death on material planets like earth

He's coming back as part of the house.... 1 brick at a time. :D
