Squadron 42 - Star Citizen : Wing Commander Style Space Sim

There's also a lot of communities that people are a part of already without the need of an OcUK one for this game.

But collaboration will work and I know PussyCat (you really need to get that name changed back btw) has already reached out about making that happen.

I wouldn't exactly call USC "Space 'merica" as you put it. While the visual style may imply that, it is more based around the GDI, which I suppose could be argued to follow closely the american military.

Anyway, USC has almost as many european players as americans, and internally is certainly quite not 'merican in any way at all.

I think hes just grumpy.

I've joined a separate community, but feel I have no connection to them aside from the fact they're going to be playing Star Citizen too.

I'd much rather stick with OCUK guys, despite having not played with many of you. Prefer the forums, and enjoy knowing that everyone in the organisation would be a sound guy.

The problem is that the 3 months figure is solo play. With that kind of ratio, and presuming funds will be transferrable which of course they will be, a relatively small group of 10 players can equip themselves with an Idris every night. A large clan could construct a fleet daily. That would be problematic and would have a lot of people wondering why they bothered spending a grand.

You cant calculate according to people who have jobs, because those who dont, and there will be a lot, will become insanely rich in the universe relatively quickly. That'll devalue the currency pretty quick. I would have thought a more sensible solution would be to make the money difficult to get and have people who work buy to make up the difference - which is kind of how the game is being funded and would earn money in the future. Abandoning that on launch would be a recipe for massive unrest.

The fact that they will make or have the money, doesn't mean they'll have instant products at their disposal. They've said that building a ship takes time in game world, with resources being shipped throughout the space, then put together and shipped to a store. Some ships may take a looong time to be constructed, more so when pirates or other people disturb the "natural" flow of merchandise; so again, having money, doesn't mean have the superiority. :)
Besides, Jihad jeep from BF 4 or other tactics could help you destroy a bigger
ship quite easily.

Also, putting money into this game should be seen as investing in the development of a game that is dictated by the gamers for the gamers, not by publishers for shareholders and not by having the biggest "stuff" out there. ;)

Yup, after TT's point I was much reassured, and that makes good sense too. Just that 60 hours figure startled me, but I suppose theres thousands analysing every aspect of this game! Good thing or bad thing lol. Time will tell, eager to se what the dogfighting mechanic is like even if it doesnt come out this side the new year.

Considering its possible to overclock and tune weapons and components in game a OCUK style clan would be fitting and we could sell high spec components in game for a premium :)

I have to be honest in that I'm looking at this with very tempted eyes, but it seems a minefield of choose with little to no referencing guide to what you should buy and if it really means a damn.

Anyone got any advice to give?

Personally, I would go for package with Avenger in it.
Not sure what it's called, but you can check.

Package entirely depends how to think you'd want to initially play the game tbh, avenger is arguably more restrictive than an aurora in the early stages.

Okay guys, i will get on it asap. I dont suppose anyone has any web design skills? I can code the website, but making it look pretty I'm not too hot, but I will try my bestest.

Anyone got any hosting?

Stelly

I'll have a word with a friend about hosting. Get back to you...
