on saturday i built my first ever PC with the help of a friend. now having built the PC, i've come to realise that actually the building part is relatively easy compared to what you need to do afterwards with respects to getting all the components to work together and ensuring the associated software is all functioning correctly.

this is where i think the real work comes in. anyway i maybe wrong but i thought i'd share my thoughts and maybe see what other members thought...

Yup, its taken me 3 evenings (my excuse is that I have been at work those days too) to carefully put my rig together. Being relatively particular in how I am routing cables and keeping everything as tidy as possible.

Booted up with the first press of the button and getting windows onto the SSD and updating everything is what is taking the real time as you say.

Although about 5 years ago when I built my last rig I remember it being much more fiddly with regards to popping into the BIOS and setting it to boot from optical drive. This time my motherboard did all that for me!

After work tonight is when the real fiddling happens. My first pop at overclocking and making sure Crossfire is working well, which really excites me :)

Yea...I myself enjoy the build part and doesn't take too long, but really hate the amount the time need to be spent on installing drivers, software and everything else :p

At least having SSD has somewhat make the process more endurable comparing with HDD in the old days, as rebooting doesn't take half a decade :D

from switching the power button on to having the screen show the initial bios page with the gigabyte logo my pc has loaded windows in 4 seconds well chuffed with that - on a few occassions doing a restart i wasnt even sure it had restarted lol.....

but yes getting all the drivers working correctly and updated is a real pain especially when things dont go the way they should.
