Have been expecting a parcel today, not a low value one either

So I work from home for the day.
This morning tracking doesn't show out for delivery
I contact ups and ask for a delivery date
They said tomorrow.
I ask if it is absolutely being delivered on the 3rd and they say yes
So I go into work and plan to stay at home
Low and behold tracking suddenly says out for delivery and delivered
Looks like it's been delivered to a neighbour who I don't know
Says it has been delivered to my house number

I haven't had a ups delivery before and am not amused by it
I'm sure it won't happen, ie, my stuff being taken. but is it a standard thing to deliver to a neighbour without permission of the receiver?

It's that I was categorically told it wouldnt be today that gets me
And that it says delivered to my house.

Yes. But if they don't have it they can be prosecuted for theft as the courier has washed their hands with it IIRC.

Yes, as long as the sender hasn't specifically said don't not leave with a neighbour then they will because at the end of the day the courriers contract is with the sender not the receiver.

Can you see the name of the person that signed for it ?

MW

I can see the name, I should be able to find the house who has it. I just think it's prettypoor serv ice.
Hope it's the neighbours I know somewhat

That doesn't mean you'll get your goods or the money back for it though.

I hate the fact that it's standard practice to deliver to a neighbour.

I hate the fact that a lot of people don't get on well with neighbours and there's sod all community spirit any more.

My neighbours rock :D

Mine too, it's very rare a week goes round where some homebrew or some home made chutney or jam doesn't get dropped in :D

English folk don't believe in communities hence why there is a lack of community spirit. My parcels can be delivered to anyone on my street and they will come over and deliver it....outta respect :D

Same for me parcels of mine end up with a neighburgh and we end up with there parcels from time to time i see no issue with my items going to one of there homes. UPS messed up with the delivery date but a day early for me would have been a bonus i would have been happy

I don't know my neighbours, but would have no problem holding one for them if they're out when the delivery guy arrives.

Don't see why its such a big issue...well, unless you live in a rough area full of thieving bar stewards :D
