Been offered a straight swap - my F Type V8S for XK-RS - thoughts?

Just the MP4 and the F-Type at the moment. The wife has a new S5 as well though.

Well with only those two cars I would say try the XK-RS for an hour or so to get a good feel for it, if it floats your boat do the swap and when you get board with it buy an F-Type Coupe R-S (or whatever R/RS/GT version they do) :D

My boss just helped a family friend of his buy a French Racing Blue XK-RS. 1yr old and 9k... 58k quite a drop from 97k RRP!

6 speed is good, seems to give a bit more length the cats stride as its not zipping through gears as fast and doesn't shift quite as sharp.

Head turner for sure!

See, this is what I mean. I don't understand why you'd want to go backwards, yes it looks lairy and they've covered it in trinkets and cool power upgrades but it can't hide the fact it's ancient now - it's a car from the middle of the previous decade. Thats why it has an older 6 speed box rather than the fantastic 8 speed box, thats why the interior looks more dated, etc etc.

Keep the F Type. The F Type is a brand new, fresh, world beating car. The XK -RS is a swansong for a car that is due replacement.

If you want one buy a 2008 -R or something for a fraction of the price.

If the F Type was Salsa red you wouldn't be thinking of changing ;) does the 2+2 and big boot of XK offer any benefit to you as that's about the only trump card it has.

Oh I'm not bored at all. This is a very unique opportunity to own a very rare car that I doubt I'll lose anything on. Not to mention it's $40k more than my F Type and I'm getting it for $82k

Your F-Type = Pure sex.
That blue XK-RS = Average looking after drivng through halfords and likely to be a worse car to drive (at a pure guess).

Why???? I exclusivity really that important?

I work stick with the F Type.

Got a really good write up in this months Evo. It sounds (as in sounds aurally and in 'sounds') absolutely bonkers.

Is it really? I mean obviously that specific model is rare but the Jaguar XK is not a rare car, I would imagine there are many thousands of them in the UK. This is just one particular version of an XK, thats all.

It's as if it's some sort of particular model of which there are only 150 anywhere. It's a Jag XK, there are loads of them. Just not as many with a big bodykit and a particular power output.

When does the F-Type Coupe arrive? I suspect orders for that will kill orders for XK's, hence the dealer looking to bin stock.

A tough one. I can see why you would consider it as you could drive the XK-RS for a year, sell it, make a profit, and then be back in an F-Type V8S again. Especially as prices are bound to drop a bit on the F-Types once they become a bit more common.
My understanding is that dealers in the US are charging above list for the F-Type at the moment.

For me though, I'd keep the F-Type.
