7870 or 7970

Hi need a bit of advice just bought ghosts and my ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
wont play I get direct x error
I have maximus formular 111 board and was wondering out of these 2 is it worth the extra dosh

XFX AMD Radeon 7870 HD

XFX AMD Radeon 7970

any advice would be appreciated

the 7970 is the better card but they've been replaced now might be worth looking round for 2nd hand

I would avoid XFX personally because of troubles with RMAing faulty components.

The 7970 is the far superior card and the new 7970 is called the 280X

As mentioned above. Try to avoid xfx as they have terrible rma (from what ive read) gigabyte have a uk based rma centre and a good warrenty

Iv had loads of XFX cards in the past, and currently have a XFX DD Black edition 7950.

iv never had any issues with XFX with RMA etc etc, and iv only ever has one go bad one me, and it was a minor fault anyway.

i guess its down to everyones own opinion
