as per the title really...

how many of you would take a pay cut to move into the job you would love to do?

an opening in the profession that i love doing has become avalible and its close to home. now the thing is it pays quite a bit less than what i currently get, but i hate my job and have done for the last 8 years atleast, but the pay is good.

contract civil/infrastructure engineering to perm setting out engineer... hhmm

holiday pay would be nice, i havent had more than 2 working days off in row in 6 years

Ask yourself which job would make you more happy. Taking into consideration the job itself and the things you can do with the money you earn.

Whichever one will make you happier is the one you should take. :)

Yes, but depends how much

I would love to be a ski instructor but its not a life long career really - at least i dont think it would be in later years

If it was enough to keep up my current lifestyle, but maybe a few less toys then for sure. But if it impacted my lifestyle/living arrangements drastically, no!

Yes, job satisfaction (as well as security) are my priorities rather than pay.
Less travel time, more me time is a good result.
Will you be taking a major step in pay or is that absorbed in the cost if it being closer to home and the hours?

Probably looking a 15k less, but then the perm market generally does pay less.
Looking at it on paper it seems a lot of money but I'm pretty sure me and the family just waste it on stuff we don't need.... As you do when you can.

I may have to look into it more. Could be possibility of not having to by fuel again apart from an 80quid tax payment a month. Which could make the difference up.

I did, But now I have been here 2 years I'm on more money than I ever could get at my old place.

The initial pay was around 30% less a week, now it's more like 60% more.

Just because the pay is lower, doesn't mean you can't earn as much as before.
