Just too many games atm and not enough time, I can't remember last time I played W101, feels like months ago!

Personally for a family machine I'd pick up wiimotes if you can stomach the cost.

Remember Wii Party U comes with one wiimote so buy another 3, if you want to contain the costs maybe go for imitations rather than Nintendo ones.

But... wuuhhhuuu... those Wiimotes ain't cheap, are they? So the regular console/bundles don't come with a single Wiimote?

Am I being unreasonable/clueless, but doesn't this feel like those days when you'd buy a toy/game for Xmas and it wouldn't come with batteries? Aren't they kind of necessary to play family games? Are there thousands of disappointed families on Xmas day not able to play family games?

It's weird being so out of the loop on some tech stuff I'm buying. Ta for the pointers.

It's standard practice for consoles to only come with one pad these days. With respects to the WiiU a lot of folk probably already had a Wii so were able to migrate the Wiimotes.
 
Super close at buying a Wii U right now, really want to get ZombieU as I think it looks awesome, but to be able to actually finish Wind Waker in HD would be great.

I've seen the Wii U for £199 at Smyths Toy Shop, but I want the ZombieU pack that comes with ZombieU and a Pro controller... seen that for £269.
 
You can pick up ZombiU for £14.86 (ShopTo) and a Pro Controller for £22.40 (Amazon), so best to get one of the other bundles and get them separately.
 
Damn!:mad: Missed delivery of my Wii U by about 1hr. Due for re-delivery tomorrow but may miss it again tomorrow, although i do have some work to do in my street so may be able to catch him. Which company do Amazon use for deliveries that are marked down as Amazon Logistics and is it still likely to be in one piece (having previously worked in a loading bay for many years and knowing only too well how delivery drivers treat parcels on the back of their vans).:(

Zombie U is a great game. But like others have said get the pro controller, the Wii U separate, save yourself some money. And oh hopefully welcome to the Wii U family :D we are a happy bunch here!

There have been a load of £199 deals recently but the price often fluctuates,its worth noting if you have an old Wii you can trade it in at Game and get £50 off a new Wii U.
Try and keep any Wiimotes though they come in very handy for multiplayer games on Wii u.

So, I'll likely need four Wiimotes for us all to be able to play together? But one comes with Wii Party U?

So... what about those nunchuk things? And/or Wii Motion Plus? Do we need nunchuks to play Sonic Racing or Wii Party U together?

Is Wii Motion Plus worth getting? And if so, on all the Wiimotes, or just some?

Never seen such a wide range of controllers to choose from for a games system...

You don't need nunchuks - forget them.

You may be able to get along with the standard wiimotes but you might miss out on the additional accuracy the wiimote plus brings in the odd game here and there. Most games do not require wiimote plus but a good fair few will benefit from the better functionality.

In all honesty despite the fact there's 4 in my family it's rare we all 4 play - it's usually 2 or 3 of us (3 being me and the 2 kids as mum is a reluctant gamer). For me I've got two wiimote pluses and one pro controller - plus obviously the gamepad. Certain games that ties us to 3 player max, some 4 player, some 2 player (where it's wiimote or nothing).

If I were you I'd get Wii Party and then two wiimote pluses and then you and your wife can alternative with the kids 3 player max.

Tricky, but as said - no-one gives you 2, 3 or 4 player straight out the box.
 
Most games, including Sonic Racing Transformed, and Wii Party U will work with regular Wiimotes, as well a motion+ Wiimotes.

Some games may require motion+, such as Wii Sports Club.

Sonic Racing can be played with regular standalone Wiimotes(maybe at least 1 player needs to be on the GamePad - not sure), but it also works with Motion+ and Wiimote&Nunchuck, Pro Controller etc.

Great. Thanks for clarifying. Makes it cheaper than I was fearing it could be for a while.

(Since we'd already bought all the kids' presents before deciding to get the Wii U as well, it's already gearing up to be the most expensive Christmas ever...)
