Will be paired with a 4770K.

I have been looking at the Gigabyte Z78 boards but am confused by their different variants.

Thanks.

Interested to hear this too, im looking at a new build come xmas, still debating between AMD and Intel chips, however if i go Intel it will be 4770k, so i need a good Z87 board, ideally no more than £150 but would like to keep it as cheap as possible to spend the extra cash elsewhere.

Will be putting in my 290 and would like to ideally xfire later, and it will be going under water. Thoughts?

I went with a msi G-43 for £75~80, cheap and does what you want it to do and has a brilliant bios

I'd check out either the Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP (my brother has one, nice board) or the slightly cheaper variant of the GA-Z87-HD3. Not looked at the HD3 but it seems fairly decent. BIOS is very nice, good overclocking and you can't go wrong with Gigabyte :)

For this the GA-Z87-UD3H does nicely for me (£130 - supports Xfire and SLI) though I believe there are some nice Asus variants for this job aswell (support Xfire and SLI.) You can get a really nice board for that price, just look around the main manufacturers :)

Thanks ACME.

My Google-fu indicates the "P" boards have better power circuitry? Is that correct?

Not fussed about SLI/Crossfire and ATX would be preferred.

i have the sniper and a 4770k and it ocs very well too, audio to me seems very good and clearer than any board ive had previously.
Also like the green colouring :)

Not really, cant see anything bad about it.

From the reviews of other boards that use it such as MSI its no better or worse than a Intel NIC.

I've got 2x Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
4770k in one and a 4570 in the other.

got my 4770k @ 4ghz first try and left it there, no doubt I could get more easy if I wanted to.

The only issue I have is sometimes the nic port won't communicate with my modem properly when I boot up but just disabling and re enabling the adaptor in windows fixes it. (which takes about 5 seconds)
There might be newer network drivers though that fix it , I never bothered to check

Looks like it was available with heatsink some time ago but not anymore.
Only board with heatsink is a MSI z87-g43 but there is no chance for crossfire or sli :/
