Anybody catch Day 1?

Europe whitewashed USA 5-0, first time it's ever been done :o

Earl Strickland is playing on the USA team. :D

Highlight of the night for me was Van Boening v Immonen at 5-5:
 
I only heard of the Mosconi Cup last year when I caught it on Sky Sports, it got me hooked. It's great seeing team USA getting spanked. :D
 
Dennis Hatch got 2 golden breaks (potting 9 ball off the break) and still lost to Ralph Souquet. 7-0 bloodbath! :D

The only sad part is this event will probably be over a day early with Europe only needing 4 more points. :(

Earl 'The Pearl' Strickland up next, expect either a great performance or an embarrassing amount of whinging.

edit: 2nd frame in and he's already moaning and swearing.

Can't believe Europe lost that last set to gift USA their first point, gutted. I was hoping for a whitewash.
 
Yeah they were lucky to win that point I can't believe we missed only 2 balls away from victory, still it was funny seeing USA team celebrate winning a point like they had won the tournament. :p
 
Europe 9-2 up and should hopefully wrap this up this evening. Earl the Pearl is complaining about everything atm, he really needs to shut his gob and let his pool do the talking. Hope he gets whitewashed here, currently 2 nil to Karl.
 
I think only Archer & Van Boening can walk away from this defeat with their dignity intact, Hatch/Morris acted a bit immature at times and Strickland acted like a baby throughout (no surprise there then). I think the USA team needs a captain who is going to kick them up the backside and some more mature players, our team were a much more professional outfit.

11-2 victory in the end, USA were lucky to get 2pts imo. Happy Chistmas! :D
