I would definitely not trust that Psu with a 290.
OP if you can, buy a decent Branded Psu, SeaSonic or perhaps Corsair.
Reason being is that after a quick Google search there's a fair few cases of these PSU's giving up and going pop, that 290 is a costly GPU and would be a shame to have it killed by a poor quality PSU.
Something like this if you don't plan on Crossfiring.

This man speaks the truth .. I have had 1 PSU die after just a few hours of my 290 going in. I was using a Antec 850w it was a little old and out of warranty but I thought I would still do the job well .. it didn't lol
I ended up buying an Akasa Cobra 650w Modular to tide me over and it has been fine even when using the same settings as what I used when the Antec died. I can't say it was solely down to the 290's power draw but the PSU died so fast that it was the only explanation that the Antec was either on it's way out or the 290 just abuses PSU's
I think whether your PSU is bottom mounted or not may also contribute to PSU failure as mine was no more than 4 inches from my 290.
