I have contacts in a .nbu files backed up from a Nokia classic device.

I have a new Lumia 1020 windows phone.

Can I sync contacts to outlook and then sync to Lumia?

(I did google it myself and what I gather I need to use the cloud to do it, IE a microsoft account, a work exchange acount etc......)

Any ideas?? :)

Have you tried the built in nokia app, o forget what its called.

You can sync to outlook, but iirc its only supports csv file format. You could probably find a converter.
Yep csv only, go to outlook > people > import from file.

Thanks I'll try this.

I installed the windows phone app. It didn’t have anything in the software to deal with contacts. It was just multimedia stuff.

From my googling, it looked like my only options where cloud or a work exchange sync.

Hopefully I can import from CSV... as you pointed above.

Edit.

The one kicker is the user doesnt have a microsfot account. The CSV method as highlighted here requires it.

I can't answer your question but I am keen to know what you think about the 1020?

It's not for me. It's a business device.

Personally didn’t like it. Phone is big, chunky and doesn’t have a good shape to it.

The camera protrudes so it gets scratched when you put it on a flat surface.

It does however have a very good 41mp camera.

It's protrudes alright, but not sure how you're treating yours but mine's showing no scratches since day one, 25th September and I'm quite liberal where I put it down.

Negative aspects are as expected, WP8 and It's lack of apps. Hardware wise no quarrels.
