Camelot had to withdraw a scratch card because of the high number of complaints they received from people who couldn't understand that -5 is a higher number than -6.

Link.

This is pretty shocking, especially the figures relating to the adult population and low numeracy.

My favourite bit is the comment "I'm not having it." Good luck with that. :)

The 23-year-old, who said she had left school without a maths GCSE, said: "On one of my cards it said I had to find temperatures lower than -8. The numbers I uncovered were -6 and -7 so I thought I had won, and so did the woman in the shop. But when she scanned the card the machine said I hadn't.

"I phoned Camelot and they fobbed me off with some story that -6 is higher - not lower - than -8 but I'm not having it.

"I think Camelot are giving people the wrong impression - the card doesn't say to look for a colder or warmer temperature, it says to look for a higher or lower number. Six is a lower number than 8. Imagine how many people have been misled."

In bold = Daily Mail put down.

It's a bit ridiculous really. They said that 15m adults in the U.K. have poor numercy, that's 1 in 4! I didn't think it was that high.

There's got to be a triple face palm gif about somewhere for this.

I bet their head explodes when the weather forecast is on in the winter months. -1 in England, -30 in Siberia "I bet they've got the sun cream on in Siberia!".

Every year we should have to undertake a test with a question like this, the test is attached to a bomb and those that fail are simply exploded.

lol you bunch of grammar nazis.

Wow using of instead of have.
Do you make the same comments about Shakespeare? He was renowned for not using correct english.

Go watch that Stephen Fry video.
