Hi All,

I am needing 4 new tyres for my car (Audi A7 Quattro).
Car has 20" wheels so prices for winter or normal tyres are between £300-450 a corner.

Do around 25,000 miles a year currently have Michelin X Pilot Super Sport on each and have got about 20,000 out of them.

Tyre details are - 265/35R20 (99Y).

Not sure if I should go for winter tyres or not.

Reading seems to indicate they perform better below 7c than normal tyres... but not sure if they perform much worse above 7c than the normal tyres.

Not really in a position to have 4 x spare Rims/extra tyres so looking for some opinions.

Really just wondering if I can get Winter tyres that will be beneficial over the next few months and still perform well enough rest of the year...or if I should just get normal tyres and do what I normally do over the next few months and deal with it.

I believe (so 100% my opinion) that winter tyres are a complete waste of money in Britain.
Buy yourself some higher end standard tyres, keep them at the correct pressure and give extra distance to the car in front if there is a chance of ice.

Make sure the tyres you buy are good - No Wingwongs to save a few quid per tyre.

Just get decent normal tyres and adjust your driving to the conditions.

Winter tyres are pretty crap in summer from what I have read.

If choosing 1 tyre, don't get winter tyres. With 2 sets of rims then you can splash out on winter tyres as they will share the wear and provide better performance if the temp is consistently below 7 degrees when you are travelling.

Just not sure we are going to have a winter that warrants them this year except in scotland.

I am all for winter tyres but only if you must drive a lot when it snows.

My wife has to do home visits regardless of how much snow there is so I bought winter tyres.

My ones are pretty pointless now that I work in a school :p

That said we often have a good few inches while the coast has barely anything.
