Most people classed as being in poverty 'have job'

Nobody is owed a living wage, they must earn it.

If people spent less time blaming the government and more time working towards earning a better wage, they'd have a better wage.

I'm sure most people on here who earn more than the average didn't get it by just sitting on their arse.

How much will this mystical "living wage" be? How much will it push inflation up?

http://www.livingwage.org.uk/

£8.80 an hour in London
£7.65 an hour in the rest of the UK
£6.31 an hour for current minimum wage

It's impossible to predict exactly the impact on inflation, my guess would be by about as much as introducing the minimum wage did i.e. negligible.

Yes, but didn't you know it's always someone else's fault? Labour, Conservative, God, but never your own:rolleyes:

and how are wages supposed to go up??? we can barely compete as it is.

you've just had 2 billion low paid workers enter the global workforce in the last 10-20 years (china and india) - the west will have to get used to a lower standard of living. We have had it comparatively easy for quite a while and i'm afraid thats coming to an end.
