Mac Mini or Nas

My Mac mini runs everything. It's my plex media server, runs Sab, couch potato, sickbeard and then the plex client itself.

I can then also access plex through my apple TVs and the on my iPhone/iPad when out and about. It also acts as my VPN server so great for when out of the country and want to watch sky go.

I am, however, looking at getting a NAS because it's untidy having a load of external drives plugged into the mini.

I have a Mac Mini as my main desktop PC, current gen model. XBMC doesn't work at all for me in Frodo guise, even including the test builds. Some Gotham builds work ok, but they're still pretty buggy on Mac and not all plugins and skins work with Gotham.

As a daily driver, I wouldn't suggest running Mavericks with XBMC just yet. Personally, I'd not bother with a Mac Mini just for XBMC, for the price I'd get something lower powered with more storage options running either OpenElec or Windows.

This and I think the Mac Mini is due a refresh soon as well.

Haswell one's probably aren't due for another 6 months maybe, but even so for just running XBMC it's really over powered IMO.

For a dedicated XBMC machine, a Celeron or AMD APU base is more than sufficient IMO. The new Atom baytrail chips should be decent too. Having said that everyone's usage will differ, that's just my 2p.
