Here are some comparison photos of my Red, Blue and Black Dualshocks. I tried to get them in natural light in the window, this shows best the colour blue and red. These colours appear much more pastel when using a flash like I did in the photos beside the PS4. As you can see, the blue is much more ultramarine in natural light.

Also included a close up of wear on the thumbstick :(

really liking the look of the red one, but tbh i don't care what colour the controller is, in fact i think spending less and having everything matching is better. if i could get the red one for the same price as black i would get it, otherwise black will do.

Mine is certainly a fair bit more noisy that my PS3 slim, it's getting returned as it is distracting and not nearly quiet enough for me. Maybe I just got a duff one, no idea but it was above what I would have considered reasonable, even more so when trying to watch something on Netflix at night when I have the volume down fairly low.

Figured I will just sit this round out and wait for the first revision, going to miss Resogun though :(

Sounds a duff one to me, mines virtually silent. Anyone figured how to stop the L1 sticking, if you play FIFA a lot you'll notice this right away me and all my friends are experiencing it. Shame because minus that and the analogue rubber its perfect.

The Xbox one is miles quiter than the PS4. Tbh I wish the PS4 was in a bigger box like the XO so it could remain as quite. When the fan ramps up it does get quite noticeable.

I have used 4 PS4's now and all have been the same. Killzone is the best example as it really cranks the fan up in parts. At times it can run pretty silent but when a game pushes it the fan spins up to noticeable levels.

Mine only does this when firing a game up like COD etc seems virtually silent once it settles.

Try Killzone on some of the later levels. I have found on any other game the fan remains fairly quite just a slight hum. The later levels of Killzone kick it up that extra notch. The visuals more than make up for it though... :D

My PS4 is whisper quiet 99% of the time, it has only spun the fans up and got a bit loud once when i was playing a game and downloading several things at once.

Cheers for the trouble, I actually dont mind the red now I can see it objectively with the other two, still would want the blue first. Not noticed any wear yet, but attributed that to just not spending that much time on it (maybe an hour a day max)...

Bit of an aggressive post considering people have only commented on the noise, and not strictly complained about it :confused:

Fact is the XO is quieter than the PS4, but that doesn't mean the PS4 is what you would call noisy.

Haha, this could actually be a factor in me thinking my PS4 is silent :p

I'm still using Logitech Z5500 for in the lounge, HTPC / PS4, awesome sound, the bass to this day is amazing. I have to keep it down else it literally shakes parts of the house :D

The subwoofer is bigger than my daughter :p

If its near silent then I agree but if its audible while using Netflix or watching bluray then that is something I would want to know before I bought one and that I would take into consideration.
 
The fan continues to spin in standby for some time too. I can hear it during heavy game play, but it isn't at all noisy enough to be distracting or even audible over the game noise!
