*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Tbh I wish the PS4 was in a bigger box like the XO so it could remain as quiet.

Hell no !

You been on the booze m8? Who on earth would wish the PS4 to be in a bigger box? That's part of its engineering marvel.

That's like saying, I wish my sports car, would be bigger and heavier and forced to go slower so that it adheres to the speed limits better.

I personally swapped my XboxONE for another PS4, cos i simply had no-where to place it, within my environment. Well that and all the other nonsense with it. Given it had to be flat down, and to add insult to the injury the kinect and external power supply on top. You're starting to use some valuable real estate there.

You must be the only person in the world who thinks the PS4 should be clunkier.

Besides, as someone who hates any sort of fan noise, the PS4 with its single large fan really is an acceptable noise level. Yes I've heard it ramp up once or twice during heavy useage. But for the most part, you can hardly tell its on... Especially if the unit is tucked out the way, standing up, as mine is. ;)

Also to add to this...my PS3 60GB Fat, is far bigger...takes up too much room and when playing games sounds like a jet.......so having it bigger does not amount to a quieter system.

Annoyingly I still have to have the damn thing sitting there due to lack of DLNA on the PS4

If i plug the DS4 in via USB does it communicate via USB or still use bluetooth?. Dont know why but i hate anything wireless and surely it adds some latency?

Loved my 360 wired pad, hope they bring out a proper wired DS4

i personally cannot hear my ps4 at all, i do have a yamaha sound bar though and don't sit in complete silence.

my pc makes far more sound, but it is closer to me than the ps4.

to me it's 100% silent, mind you a lot of people on here complain that they can hear their tv's buzzing also, but again i cannot hear this over the soundbar either therefore again it's not an issue.

Out of pure laziness I did wish I could stick something on over DLNA the other day. It needs patching in.

Indeed....it makes having your PC as a media server redundant without it.

Luckily they are bringing it back to the PS4, but in the meantime having both my PS4 and PS3 sitting next to each other takes up a lot of room and is annoying.

they won't, not a first party one anyway.

wireless isn't an issue with consoles, unless your like a pro gamer and £20K is on the line, i wouldn't worry about it, nobody else is using a wired pad.

It can get pretty loud.

Playing Killzone I find it the most annoying. At first I thought it was the install process but it ramps up still during gameplay. This is also present on Battlefield 4 but games like FIFA and Resogun I can't hear it.

Mine's quiet too - much quieter than my PS3, which was pretty loud when the fans ramped up, and much, much quieter than my 360. I've heard the fans ramp up once when using the PS4 and that was while dling 3 games from the psn and playing Killzone. That was pretty loud but didn't last long. Every other time before or since it has been whisper quiet.

TBH all of this is pointless. One person's idea of "quiet" can be totally different to another's.

Also we will all have our consoles in different environments.
