What i normally do if the case has a 3 pin spacing plug and a motherboard only has a 2 pin header is move one of the wires in the plug so that they are the correct spacing. It takes seconds and saves faffing around with adaptors.

^^ This, or split the connector with a sharp knife or cutters.

sometimes its the speaker or power cable.
