Sooo which is the best 290 for watercooling

I posted in the CS forum about MSI cooler removal and got the following from Gibbo;

Hi there

You can remove the cooler if there is no warranty void stickers it means breaking and as long as you don't damage the card in the process.

So even if its MSI, if there is a warranty sticker, you void the warranty. I'd assume most have this sticker, if not all, so meh..

As for the RMA with MSI this is correct, there is no sticker on the cooler, so removing it will be fine, just make sure you put it together how it was if you ever need to send back for and RMA.

To quote the answer i got when asking about warranty on the 290x release.

Lol 389 for a 290

389 for a 290 which is guaranteed to be pre-flashed to a 290x. I think that price is great as it undercuts all 290x prices for the same performance and it includes a warranty. Sure you might think it is not worth it due to the dual bios making flashing fool proof, but not all cards from the same manufacturers flash to a 290x. OCuk make the effort to source and stock batches of full flashable 290's which they themselves spend time flashing to a full 290x, so that people can buy a 290x for less than the rrp price. This service was available within just a month of the release.

What do you think they should be priced at?

I asked an msi rep about stickers....seemingly they are fitted for the Asian market and mean very little to the European market :)

MSI's policy always had been that changing the cooler or reapplying thermal paste is fine (requires removing sticker) as long as one won't damage the card doing so and the original cooler is mounted when sending for rma. So there is no problem with MSI. Sometimes sellers argue about it when issued with rma but MSI can be contacted in such case. For verification from MSI ask your local branch if you like:>>How to contact MSI.<<
