It's new tyre time and I'm getting a little tyred (pun intended) of 'trying' medium spec tyres that are meant to be decent but actually aren't all that.

So, my budget is £100 per corner. What does this buy me that's up there with the best?

Thanks

I've just fitted F1AS2's in that size, replacing my CSC2's.

Absolutely superb grip, even in these cooler temperatures. Really looking forward to warmer weather with them.

Did you buy them from a garage or order them online?

I bought 4 F1 AS2's from Event tyres a couple of weeks ago for £430 fully fitted. Tons better than the crappy, noisy dunlops I had on my car before and my vRS is a dream to drive now.

If only it stopped burning oil.....

would help if you mentioned the car they are going on.

<£100 a corner in that size is surely RE050A money.

I was just about to say that my Fiesta ST uses those tyre sizes.

I have just had two Yokohama Parada Spec 2's fitted and so far (2months, 3-4000miles) i'm really liking them. People warned me that in the wet they're not great but to be honest I've had no trouble what so ever, really grippy even when setting off from traffic lights or going around roundabouts in pouring rain.

I've also had Avon ZZ3's, Hankook V12's and Uniroyal Rainsport 2's and I've found them all reasonable. The Avon ZZ3 has been replaced by the Avon ZZ5 now and the Rainsport 2's by the Rainsport 3's.

I realise my suggestions are different from any above, i'm talking more about ones which are easily available in 205/40/17.

Edit: Scrap what I just said, just seen your comment about not wanting "medium" tyres which I guess is what these are (with perhaps the exception of the Yokohama's).
