Bloke uses our road as a Car Park

Just.. wow.

You don't own the road - everyone contributes to the roads through general taxation. Including the guy who has parked there. There are no parking restrictions and no double yellow lines, he is as entitled to park there as you are and the fact you are trying to think of ways to irritate him and even thought about keying his car really does speak volumes. I wouldn't park my car there but mostly because I'd be worried about damage from irrational people who think they own the road more than any other reason.

I bet you don't complain about the convenient location of a well served railway station having a positive influence on your properties value, do you?

Lol, I love how people seem to assume some sort of ownership of certain bits of public road simply because its near their house. And then get really worked up about it.

Had a note left on one of our cars the other day. Laughed.

I've had the council remove cars from outisde on our pavement. Seriously just ring the council and say the car has been parked outside for days and none of the neighbours know who it belongs to and you're afraid it might be stolen or used in a robbery or better still use the terrorism cliché which gets people paranoid. It doesn't take rocket science to get an obstruction removed legally or illegally.

Ok I have contributed some dumb ideas to this Post, but this, this is just dumb.

Think the police, especially the counter terrorism police have better things to worry about like actually terrorist events!

There is no obstruction to remove - it's a legally parked, roadworthy, taxed and insured car!

So we've upgraded from criminal damage to wasting police time, top work.

We are fortunate enough to have a train station at the back of our house that has trains to Manchester every 30 minutes. This has never been a problem up until now - and the problem itself isn't actually anything to do with the station.

There is one bloke (or woman - I don't know) who parks their car on our road on Monday and doesn't return until late on Thursday. As you can see from the photo, whilst it isn't on our side of the road because we have a drive way, it is blocking where the neighbours would usually park their cars.

I totally appreciate it's entirely legal, but it's extremely annoying for the people who live across the way. It annoys me too and it's not even parked in front of my house!

I've tried leaving a polite note on the windscreen saying that given the road is narrow and residents have an agreement to park in front of their own houses, could he kindly park elsewhere. It worked for a few weeks then he started re-appearing.

Has anybody else had any similar issues?

If you had bothered to read the thread rather than simply read the post, you'd know which car was mine.

PS - the BMW is his car, if you read the whole post you'll know he only did this thread cos he wanted opinions on the car!

Vain huh?

Go, go now!

I think you're dumb to believe that terrorists actually exist

Go read what the Government shove down your throat

I'd say leaving notes on a car that is parked perfectly legally (as long as it's not obstructing access) is plain rude in itself.

Indeed. Where I used to live there were parking restrictions and you were supposed to have a permit to park there between the hours of 9 and 5 on weekdays. Outside of those hours or at weekends there were no restrictions which is fine. I was always at work and on the days I wasn't, I could simply park further up the road outside of the restrictions, no problem, so as a result I didn't bother getting a permit.

Surprisingly that itself never caused me a problem but on weekends I and friends who visited would often end up with notes on our cars saying "WHY ARE YOU PARKING HERE WHEN YOU LIVE FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD?" and "WHY ARE YOU PARKING HERE? I'LL PARK MY CAR OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE" and another bizarre one, "People are cowards when dealing with pensioners". I have no idea what that was all about since no 'dealings' ever took place. These spaces were the nearest available spaces to my house - about a 10 second walk away. They clearly had no idea who the cars belonged to, who they were there to visit and if they really wanted to park their car outside my friend's house about 5 miles away then they'd have been more than welcome to.

I notice the coward never confronted anyone face to face or left any contact details as I would gladly have had a chat. The even more amusing thing about it is that there were 4 bungalows next to this set of car parking spaces, so it makes sense to assume that the person complaining lived in those but they actually belong on a different road which has its own parking spaces. No parking rules were broken at all, yet this **** seemed to think that he/she had some kind of right to dictate who parks in a public space.

I hate these people. I'm glad I never had to find out who it was to get the council involved. I ended up moving shortly after it all started which is good because knowing my luck they'd be just the kind of scum that would start keying cars and slashing tyres.
