Hello dreadfuls!
Dashcon 2014 is looking to be a real highlight of the upcoming year for me and probably you and the other three to seven thousand brokens they expect will attend.
Dashcon is a convention where the users of Tumblr - popular website only slightly less awful than reddit - can meet to share their love with each other in a non fat-shaming, trans-flaming, furry-loving healthy and positive way through the medium of anime, ICP, cosplay and ill-fitting clothing. Does it have any other aims? Why, good question! It sure does! Let's have a look see:
That sounds amazing. But wait, how do we make order of so many fun activities? Is there a schedule so we know where to waddle to and at what time because I don't want to miss out on the geekery.
Friday starts out strong with a discussion on 'Man Tissues' (3pm in the Utopia A space), pulling hard all the way through till 11pm where 'Pony Kareoke' kicks off (Imagination space).
Saturday is also shaping up to be an informative day with 'How to food/food porn' (9am, Schaumburg C space) getting us into the swing of things before leading on to the highlight of the day for me and I'm sure many others: the 'Lolita Tea Party' (3pm, Utopia D space). 'Rape Culture' (10pm, Innovation space) unfortunately clashes with 'FanFiction Dramatic Readings' (10pm, Imagination space) so you'll have to choose wisely!
Sunday closes things down with 'You're Hunting Demons ... in Stilettos?' (7pm, Nirvana A space) probably the pick of an impressive bunch.
Phew! What a line up! But will there be anyone famous there?
There sure will be! Literally a list of people with names, every one a guaranteed person who thinks they've done a thing. Time magazine called them 'electrifying, like when you wee on one of those animal fences which you didn't think held a current but it did and then you get a sore pee pee, mom!'
All this for only $65 (US) which is an absolute bargain! For an extra 5 bucks you can get a ticket to see Steam Powered Giraffe, a Musical Pantomime Group with a Steampunk theme. I know where my money is going!
See you all there!

DashCon aims to be the largest gathering of Tumblr users to date, concentrating on the particulars of this stand out social media site. DashCon will be a place where Tumblr users can express common site wide interests, in both fashion, art, science, and in the world of geekery. Specifically, the side of Tumblr we have garnered interest from has been the geekery side. This side comprises mostly of people who religiously follow various television shows, movie series, and book series. Notable groups within this ‘geekery’ side would be those who follow BBC’s Sherlock, CWs Supernatural, and JK Rowling’s Harry Potter. In addition to bringing together these groups, we are also very interested in promoting and helping with two common issues found within Tumblr users, mainly, depression and anxiety. We wish to provide informational programming about healthy ways to deal with these conditions
