Looking to upgrade our 32'' LG TV which is around 3-4 years old now as things have moved on. Looking at 40-42'' models for up to £500.00. 3D isn't required but would want smart and freeview hd, which they all seem to have regardless. We've got an AMP and 2 small Gale speakers already, so sound quality through the TV isn't important (usually all pretty nasty anyway?).

This is currently top of the list:

LG 42LN575V LED HD 1080p Smart TV, 42" with Freeview HD

Any reason as to not buy this?

Probably best to go and try out the TV Smart Features in a store somewhere.
I much prefer the TV Guide, Smart Menu and interface on Samsung TV's over LG's system.

Iv'e had a go on the LG one as a friend owns the model above in a larger size with the magic remote. Don't think there can be much in it picture quality wise around the same price point on the bigger brands?
