US: The Walking Dead Season 4 (contains spoilers)

The prison confrontation seemed like it happened just because the writers wanted them to leave the prison, not because it made any sense. I felt like it was a Walter White situation - seemingly impossible to get out of, but Rick should have been able to using some quick thinking. He explained how it would be pointless to attack and I think realistically the attackers should have agreed with his thinking. He just should have emphasized how the prison would be completely useless the second the tank took down the fence, so all they would be left with if they won was half their people dead and they would have killed innocent people, maybe including children.

The attackers would then have to return to their camp with nothing to show for their losses since the prison would be overrun with zombies.

I can see how Rick stating the obvious (which he did), and everyone agreeing meaning they call off the attack on the prison would have made for a much more exciting episode :p

It would have made a change from "The Governor Attacks the Prison: Part 2". If the people had any sense, they would have joined up with Rick's people and with all those guns and ammo they would have had a nice army to clear that whole area up with. Then they could dig some pits and put in proper defenses like Morgan had - he held an entire town by himself.

The writers obviously ran out of ideas for the prison though, so they just decided to kick everyone out. I would like if they just trimmed down the whole story to just Rick and Carl surviving, make it more like The Road, The Last of Us, and TWD game. More character focused and post-apocalyptic.

I still can't understand why they haven't moved somewhere more exciting?

I'd like to see them in another city, or a new state, just to give it a kick and keep people watching.

You're over thinking the situation and trying to apply real world common sense to a program about zombies and the end of the world. So they join Rick in the prison and kill off the Governor. Over time they fortify the prison fence with pits and spiked defences, rebuild the wall out the back (which I assume they still Haven't done which really bothers me if I'm honest) and clear out all of the walkers from inside the prison. They go out and round up all the resources they can find including heavy weapons, fuel tankers, construction equipment and materials to fortify their vehicles. Now they are completely safe both inside the prison and out in the wild. As such they can live out their lives and die of old age in relative safety.

Now whilst this is what you, I and everyone else would do if a zombie end of world situation ever happened for real, it would make for a massively boring weekly TV program. As such they have to make stupid plot twists in order to stop it turning into a program about a bunch of individuals living safely growing veggies and going about their day to day lives worrying about normal every day run of the mill stuff.

Well from what we can tell - thats exactly what the next 8 episodes will bring come feb.

I assume similar to the comics ... I thought the first 8 were a bit drawn out with the whole plague thing - and the gov. thing could have been nailed down to 1 episode; but that last episode made up for it.

It was seriously good stuff!

got to agree, its gotten a bit stale with them being shacked up in the prison for such a long time.

Great episode, really liked how it played out. So many LOL moments however, like when Daryl used the walker as a shield! So bullets cannot penetrate through the body, but a spike can! And when Carl headshotted a walker which could have easily missed and wiped out his dad! Come on Carl, learn your angles!!

Good job I don't take it too seriously :p

I thought the last 4 eps of series 4 really made up for the utter tedium of series 2 and 3. I was pretty close to giving up on the TV series but then basically watched 4 episodes back to back.

Great last episode! I've only been watching this since mid S2 and would love to get S1 to see how it all began lol.

I was a bit surprised when the old guy died of lung cancer a few episodes ago and then turned into a zombie! Does every go zombie when they die, whether they were bitten or not?? If so I must have missed this!

until feb wtf everyone on a break....

it will come back and last what 2-3 eps and then all shows break for 6 months lol

Yep. 'Mid season' breaks are becoming quite common. It's just an excuse for them to leave two cliffhangers per season I guess

This was revealed at the end of season 2 if I recall.
