2 year old sealed bottle of brake fluid - still ok to use?

Hi all,

I need to do a brake fluid change and have 2 bottles of some fairly good stuff which I never got round to using. It's in sealed bottles and was made in 2011 - reckon it'll still be ok?

Where has it been stored?

If it's a plastic bottle and stored somewhere like a shed or garage then id not bother, fluid is cheap and easy to get hold off..

If perfectly sealed, fine. If not, you may as well change your brake fluid for Evian.

It is sealed - was kept in the garage. It's RBF 600 stuff, so about £30 worth.

Problem is moisture can get through the plastic bottle over time.

Open it up and take a look, chances are it will be fine but I personally wouldn't bother for the sake of £30.

If it was for your clutch/power steering then go for it but not brakes.

brake fluid is normally vacuum sealed with a foil style lid, if that's intact then use it.

Sounds familiar ;-)

RBF is properly loving taking in moisture, and I was changing it every 12 months.

Maybe overkill, but it kept the brakes beautiful in the s2000

You'll know as soon as you look at it.

I need to change the S6's brake fluid soon, not looking forward to it to be perfectly honest!
